As a pupil of BCL Driver Instruction you will get free access to Theory Test Pro.
The driving theory test has two parts – a question part and a hazard perception part and both of these have to be passed at the same time. In addition, The theory test must be passed before you can apply for the practical driving test. Theory tests are carried out at your local theory test centre.
The first part of the theory test involves 50 multiple choice questions carried out on a touch screen computer. The pass mark is 43 out of 50. You have plenty of time for the test so you don’t need to rush. If you are not sure of a n answer you can flag that question and come back to it later.
Hazard Perception (HPT)
When you’ve completed the questions, there will be a short delay and then the Hazard perception test will start. The test consists of 14 clips of computer generated video each lasting around 30 or 40 seconds. In total there are 15 “developing hazards” that you will need to identify – 13 of the clips have one such hazard but one clip has two. The sooner you identify the scoring hazards, the higher your score for that clip up to a maximum of 5 points per scoring hazard. You just need to click the mouse, you do not need to move the mouse cursor over the hazard. The pass mark for hazard perception is 44 out of 75.
